Saturday

It's Saturday. It's warmer than it has been all winter but still on the chilly side. The wood stove is breathing out invisible eddies of warmth and Boo, the dog, is stretched out beside the kitchen table like a lumpy carpet of brown and black. She smells faintly of corn chips and fresh air. I prefer the fresh air. She whines in her sleep, as she dreams dog-dreams of kitten chasing and rare feasts...
